Okay, I finished. I stayed up and read until 1:30 am. Greg Iles can really tell a stroy and even though I had a hard time with this book in the beginning, I found myself captivated by it toward the end.
This book looks at the marriage of Warren and Laurel Shields. Warren, a well respected doctor and his wife, Laurel, a school teacher seem to have the perfect life. That is, until Dr. Shields slimeball partner Kyle Auster sets him up to take the fall for fraud. Being tipped off to the set-up, Dr. Shields thrashes his home in search of the evidence. During his search he finds a love letter written to his wife which sets the story in motion. He goes insane with rage holding his wife hostage, tying her up until she confesses to having an affair and names the man she's been seeing. The psychological control he has over her hit close to home for me. I found it hard to continue reading but I'm glad I did. The ending came together and you actually felt sorry for Warren Shields. Greg Iles doesn't disappoint.

Third Degree

Third Degree by Greg Iles - I am halfway through this one and I'm having a hard time with it. The plot is a tad nerve-wracking and I'm getting frustrated with it. I hope the second half of the book is better and I'll continue this review when the book is finished.

As far as Greg Iles goes, Turning Angel was my favorite. I loved the way the story flowed and it grabbed me at the beginning. That one I couldn't put down. I enjoy Greg Iles and his discription of Natchez, Mississippi brings the story to life. I'd love to visit.

The Wedding Girl - Madeline Wickham

At the age of eighteen, Milly marries Allan - who has a gay lover named Rupert. Thinking she's done the two of them a favor so Allan can stay in the country, and thinking that Allan will divorce her soon -which he never does, she moves on with her own life.
Ten years later Milly is now engaged to the wealthy Simon Pinnacle. What happens next is typical Madeleine Wickham, AKA Sophie Kinsella style - Chaos, turmoil, and lies.
You can guess the ending as it's just about the same in all her books, at least the ones I've read. Another easy read with no big surprises or twists. I found it a little boring coming off one of Sophie Kinsella's other books called "Remember Me". I'll go back to my mysteries for a while and see if her next book is a little more interesting.

Michael Connelly - Nine Dragons

Another Harry Bosch novel, this time Harry is trying to slove the murder of a small shop owner in a tough L.A. neighborhood. The murder of John Li, the store's owner, hits Bosch hard, and he promises Li's family that he'll find the killer. Only now, after a threathening phone call and a text video of his young daughter being held against her will sends Harry to Hong Kong. Harry has one "39-hour day" to find his 13-year-old daughter, presumably kidnapped by members of the Triade, who want to make Harry drop an investigation into the Li murder.
As always, Michael Conneelly keeps the story gripping from start to finish.
Pick up any Harry Bosch series - you'll enjoy it!

Steve Berry - The Paris Vendetta

Okay - I finished! This book was by far the best of the Cotton Malone series to date. I love'd it!! I'm a little bit saddened though, but I'm not going to tell you why. I am so ready for his next book - the guy can't write fast enough for me. Steve Berry has got to be my favorite author. To anyone out there..........Read this book.

Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella

I just finished "Twenties Girl" by Sophie Kinsella [Real name Madeline Wickham] and I thought it was such a cute, quirky, and sentimental story. The main character is Lara Lington. Her great Aunt, Sadie, has died at the age of 105. Sadie's ghost comes back to haunt Lara until Lara can find her great aunt's missing necklace, which Sadie cannot be buried without. During her quest, Lara discovers what Sadie was like in her 20's and with the [unwanted] help of her aunt, finds the perfect man. Lara also discovers a great deal about her own family. I found this book an easy read and a nice change from the murder mysteries/suspense novels I usually pick up.
